One of the key aims of the meeting was to discuss the importance of the inshore fishery and the contribution that inshore fishing makes to the sustainability of coastal communities. Maureen and Stephen made a presentation of the fishery on Change islands to the International meeting. Please click the photo above to view the presentation, available on the OMRN website.
Maureen Woodrow is an adjunct professor at the Telfer School of Management and Executive Director of the Ocean Management Research Network at the University of Ottawa. Maureen is a co-investigator along with Kelly Vodden (Geography, Memorial University) and Principal Investigator, Derek Smith (Geography, Carleton University) on an SSHRC funded project on developing sustainable fisheries management policies that respond to the needs of coastal communities.
