The Linking Science and Local Knowledge Working Group’s objective is to bring together institutions, industry and communities that are directly involved in research and training related to the integrative management of ocean resources through Canada and internationally. The group will address several critical needs in ocean management including (a) developing ways to facilitate communication and knowledge exchange between social and natural scientists and local stakeholders in order to build capacity a the local level to implement new forms of ocean and coastal governance, (b) identifying knowledge gaps and stimulating formation of research partnerships.
