The Ocean Technology and Geomatics Working Group takes an integrated approach which associates science and technology (S&T), socio-economics, the environment, and policy. The WG seeks to examine the human dimension of S&T, and the extent to which it assists in linking sustainable development to integrated ocean management, in enhancing knowledge of the natural processes of the ocean, and in supporting decision-making on the rational utilization of marine resources. The WG works to overcome the divide between the physical and human sciences with respect to ocean management issues, by recognizing the human dimensions of ocean S&T and how they could contribute to effective and appropriate ocean management.
