The International Ocean Governance Working Group (WG) will explore Canada’s links with international ocean-related fora, Canada's international leadership on oceans, and its support for international development in ocean-oriented areas. The WG will explore and assess what existing or planned academic research programs or initiatives are relevant to the International Ocean Governance pillar of the Ocean’s Action Plan (OAP), how the role of Canada’s academic institutions and individuals might be strengthened in relation to promoting ocean governance leadership; what international and national capacity-building initiatives in the various departments and agencies presently address ocean governance, and how such initiatives might be enhanced if at all.
